Bear Hunting Saskatchewan

Our Secluded Hunting Camps

Deep in the wilderness, our camps provide an excellent base for you and some friends to enjoy a hunting adventure.  Camp is ideal for groups of 3-6 bear hunters, providing an opportunity for a small family group or a few friends to book the full camp and have a private hunting retreat for the week.

In camp, you’ll find a welcoming atmosphere that complements the thrill of the hunt; a place to share your bear hunting stories, plan your next day’s hunt and enjoy hearty, camp-cooked meals deep in the Saskatchewan wilderness.

Our Spring Black Bear Hunts in Saskatchewan

Gunson Outfitting offers a wide variety of spring black bear hunts in Saskatchewan.  We operate several different camps, which allow us to hunt thousands of square miles of wilderness.  We access our hunting areas by truck, ATV, float plane, and/or boat – it depends on how you would like to hunt.

All our standard hunt packages include guides, hunting licenses, pre-baited stands, meals, accommodation and transport during the hunt.  Depending on your base camp, there may (or may not) be excellent walleye and/or northern pike fishing available during your hunt.

Setting Off on Our Black Bear Hunts in Saskatchewan

Torch Camp:

Our Torch River hunts are based out of an old-school trapper’s camp, complete with wood-heated log cabins.  This camp is a classic – perched on the bank of a lazy river, 10 miles by ATV past the end of the road, making the hunt a pure wilderness experience.  Comfortably accommodating 4-6 hunters per week, we run 3 weeks of bear hunts every spring. Using ATVs and/or boats (on the river), we access our long-established bait sites.

Torch Camp is ‘off grid’, intermittent electricity (for lights, etc) provided by generators.  No running water except for the shower, which is available on the spring hunts.  This camp is the real deal – old log trapping cabins, 10 miles from the road.

Getting there:

The 10-mile journey from the trailhead to our Torch camp can be an adventure in itself.  The spring weather always surprises with variable water and mud levels:  the ATV trail can be messy, and at the end of it there is the boat ride across the river to camp.  Our camp, deep into the wilderness, sets the stage for an authentic, guided black bear hunt in Saskatchewan.

Granite Camp:

100 miles north of Torch Camp is our new Granite Camp. Drive to our comfortable base camp, which provides access to multiple lakes and hunting areas.  Hunting will be done at baited sites accessible by ATV and/or boat.  Large parts of this area have rarely – if ever – been hunted, which provides you with a fabulous opportunity to hunt some big old boars.

The camp includes a couple of cabins with a total of 3 bedrooms accommodating 2 hunters/room, providing comfortable accommodation for groups of 4-6 hunters. Camp is fairly rustic but does have electricity, wifi, and running water, etc. The cabins are a couple of hundred yards from a lake with some good northern pike and some excellent bear hunting.

There is excellent walleye and pike fishing available in many nearby lakes.

Getting there:

The last 2-3 hours of your drive north to Creighton (SK) will take you deep into the forest of the Canadian Shield, 100 miles past the nearest agricultural lands – you’ll feel like you’re driving to the ends of the earth, and you won’t be far wrong.

Custom Hunts – For the truly adventurous, we will put together custom bear hunts.

  • Fly-in (or boat/canoe-in) tent- and cabin-based spot & stalk black bear & fishing trips.
  • We will charter a plane and drop you (and your guide) at a remote/un-hunted lake where you will hunt (by boat) for bear, while enjoying some excellent fishing.

Coming Soon (for 2027) – Spot & stalk mountain hunts in British Columbia

Our Prime Black Bear Habitat</h2>

Hunt areas of prime black bear hunting in Saskatchewan, with high bear densities and big bears. Most of our bear hunting blinds are in heavily travelled (by bear) corridors along rivers or lakes.

We are always experimenting with new locations and tactics, but we also have a core group of bait sites that have been hunted for decades. The bears know where they are and come back, year after year after year.
