The nearest communities to our Golden Lake fishing camp, Flin Flon Mb., or Pelican Narrows, SK, both of which are a five to six hours northeast of Saskatoon. Depending on where you’re travelling from, it may make sense to spend the night in Flin Flon before you fly to camp. This way, you can be sure you get to the float plane dock on time on the morning of your departure.
On the morning of your flight, you’ll need to arrive at the float dock an hour before your scheduled departure to ensure all your gear is on the dock and ready to fly.
What Our Guests Say
We caught too many Pickerel (Walleye) to count, but collectively, we must have been in the hundreds over the days we fished. We didn’t have to use fancy lures. Mostly spoons like Red Devils and 5 of diamonds. A couple of us used jigs for a couple of days, and they worked, too. We mostly cast from the boat or trolled. Could also catch fish from the docks easily. When they were biting (or present) near the docks, you would get a pickerel every three or so casts.
We caught about one pike for every 2-3 pickerel. Mostly good eating-size pikes, too. Natalie and I each caught a 36-inch pike, and I got a 34 on a short ice fishing rod … (we) caught one huge perch.
… it was a fun week. It’s neat having two lakes close to each other. If it’s windy, you can pick the lake, which is easiest to boat in. There’s a creek that goes from Golden to Jones right north of the camp, and you can always catch fish below the rapids….

Geoff
